The Challenge
Roberto, the passionate owner of #Bubita – a vibrant plant-based restaurant in the heart of Barcelona, reached out to me with an exciting challenge: to redesign their menu just in time for the bustling tourist season. Our mission was to create a chic, magazine-style menu that not only showcased their specialty – homemade Sangrias, but also captured the quirky charm and culinary brilliance of #Bubita.

The result? A stunning menu that didn’t just enhance the dining experience – it became a desired souvenir! Guests were so enchanted by the design that they wanted to take it home as a keepsake. This unexpected twist significantly boosted customer engagement and satisfaction, turning a simple menu into a memorable part of their visit.
DELICIOUS RENAISSANCE
Where innovation meets tradition, in the heart of Barcelona’s historical old town, right next to the iconic Picasso museum, #Bubita is an 100% Plant Based Concept restaurant dedicated to vegan food and drinks. It’s a popular spot in Born, one of the trendiest neighbourhoods of the city, where Spanish culinary traditions are reimagined with a plant-based twist. Roberto and his team, driven by a relentless pursuit of culinary excellence, had spent the off-season perfecting beloved classics and crafting dazzling new recipes.
The restaurant’s menu required a revamp to reflect these exciting changes. Known for its innovative plant-based dishes and a variety of sangrias, #Bubita needed a menu that not only highlighted their culinary creativity but also matched the quirky and sophisticated vibe that makes the restaurant a beloved spot. With the buzz of a new tourist season on the horizon, it was the perfect moment to unveil a refreshed menu design, ready to enchant both locals and visitors alike.
THE PROCESS
Our journey with #Bubita began with the creation of moodboards to understand the creative vision Roberto had in mind. We aimed to develop a menu that felt like an editorial masterpiece – engaging and brimming with personality. The moodboards helped us align on the visual style that would best represent #Bubita’s brand.
We were initially on the fence about using photos in the menu, as food presentations don’t always match the photos exactly.. But we both fell in love with the striking typography approach, because it felt like a true reflection of #Bubita’s vibrant spirit.
ADDING PERSONALITY
Since the house specialty is an exquisite variety of Sangrias made from handpicked wines, fresh fruit and aromatic spices, I proposed to highlight the individuality of each Sangria. Each one got its own “mini-branding” with a special typography treatment, showcasing its unique character. To add an extra dash of charm and storytelling, we finished the menu design with the cover page of collage of iconic women characters in history, after whom each Sangria is named. The fusion of design and narrative invites guests to savor not just the flavors, but all the stories behind every sip.

Roberto and his team were thrilled with the results. The new menu not only showcased their culinary innovations more effectively but also reinforced #Bubita’s unique brand identity. With its fresh and cohesive look that perfectly aligned with the restaurant’s values and aesthetic, the menu significantly boosted customer satisfaction and loyalty.
The design was such a hit that many customers asked to buy the menu as a souvenir – a true testament to its appeal and the deep connection it fostered with the restaurant’s clientele. This successful revamp set #Bubita apart in Barcelona’s competitive restaurant scene, attracting more tourists and locals alike, and driving sales during the peak season.
